These are whole step (or 2 fret) shapes that are within the G Major Pentatonic Scale. This makes a nice connector for the entire fretboard, allow you to more freely follow where the music takes you. It starts with this basic shape:

That is the 10th fret of the guitar. Here is the whole shape:
